This is a problem every android user has experienced, the mobile network either stops working all of a sudden, or the internet goes out or stops receiving any signals whatsoever.
Mostly, it is your service provider’s fault or an issue on the network side but sometimes, it can also be caused due to some bugs in your device’s hardware or software.
In this article, we will be discussing some fixes for the mobile network not available or not working for any reason and hopefully get your issue resolved if the latter was the case.
So, without further ado, let’s dive into the steps to fix the issue:
Steps to fix Mobile Network Not Available Issue:
1. Toggle Airplane Mode
The first thing you should do if you’re facing any issues with your mobile network or internet must be to turn the airplane mode on and off to refresh the network. Toggling the airplane mode is one of the most common fixes to this problem.
You can do this by pulling down the notification panel and toggling the airplane icon or in some devices, by holding the power button you may receive a toggle for airplane mode. However, for some reason that you don’t have the airplane icon in your notification panel, follow the steps below to do so from settings.
Step 1 – Launch Settings
The first step is to enter settings either by clicking on the settings application or by pulling down your notification panel and proceeding from there.
Step 2 – Click on the “Network & Internet/Connection & Sharing” menu.
The name of this menu may vary from device to device however, it will be either of these two names for most devices, if that isn’t the case for you, you can search for this setting for your particular device.
Step 3 – Toggle Airplane Mode
Upon entering the menu, you’ll see the airplane mode option. Toggle your airplane mode from there and wait for a few seconds to see if it worked.
2. Restart Your Device
Restarting your device is also one of the common fixes for the loss of the mobile network. Sometimes, a background task or the accumulated system cache may be hindering your device’s software thus causing various issues such as this.
Restarting the mobile not only clears all the cache but also refreshes the mobile network to look for inserted sim cards, and the refreshment of the mobile network restores it back.
3. Check Your Roaming
Roaming is an option in every android device which essentially allows your device to receive cellular connection outside of your network’s coverage area while you are traveling by automatically switching to a network by another provider in the local area.
If you have this option enabled, it may be that your device is facing some problems due to the roaming automatically switching networks for unknown reasons, and disabling this option may resolve your issue. It is recommended to keep your roaming turned off in case you are at rest.
If you don’t know how to turn off roaming, follow the steps given below.
Step 1 – Launch Settings
Launch settings either from the notification panel or by going through the application.
Step 2 – Enter the “Network & Internet/Connections & Sharing” menu
As we’ve discussed earlier, the name for this setting may differ from device to device but the most common ones are these. You can search for your particular device if you can’t find it.
Step 3 – Enter “Mobile Network”
The name may vary for this one too, but generally, this is what most devices use, you can look up this setting for your particular device.
Step 4 – Turn Off Roaming
In the “Mobile Network” menu, you will find the roaming toggle. Turn off roaming if it is turned on, if it is not, then continue on with other fixes.
4. Look For Updates
Check if your device has any pending system updates released by the manufacturer. Older versions of the system may be susceptible to bugs like these, and updating your system may resolve your issue.
Similarly, the contrary is also equally possible. System updates provided by the manufacturer may result in bugs like these, and unfortunately in such cases, you have no choice but to wait for another update to roll out and hope for the manufacturer to fix it.
5. Reinsert The Sim Card
Taking out your sim card and reinserting it is also a common practice in issues like this. It refreshes the mobile network like it does when you toggle airplane mode or restart your device which may resolve your issue.
If that doesn’t work, try cleaning your sim card a bit. Sometimes, dust particles may create problems with your device trying to detect your sim, so in the process of reinserting it, it is also recommended you clean it.
6. Reset Network Settings
If none of the fixes above work, then we will have to be a bit more aggressive. If you can’t resolve the issue then resetting the entire network settings is the best bet. If you do not know how to reset your network settings then follow the steps given below.
Step 1 – Launch Settings
Firstly, launch settings by either going through the notification panel or by the application.
Step 2 – Find and enter the “System” menu
The name for this menu may be different depending on your device but this is the most common name for the menu, you can look this up for your particular device.
Step 3 – Go into “Reset Options”
The name may differ just like we’ve previously discussed but it will be something along these lines.
Step 4 – Reset Network Settings
Upon entering the reset options menu, you will find a reset option for Wifi, Mobile & Bluetooth. Select that option and confirm the reset.
7. Factory Reset Your Device
One of the last options we have left in our arsenal is factory resetting our entire device. I recommended only trying this method out after you’ve tried all the previous ones, as a sort of “last resort”.
Factory reset wipes out all data from your internal storage and sets it back to its original starting state. It is recommended to take a backup of all your data before proceeding with this step.
If you don’t know how to factory reset your device, then follow the steps given below.
Step 1 – Launch Settings
Enter settings from the application or by pulling down the notification panel and proceed from there.
Step 2 – Enter the “Backup and Reset” option
The name of the option may be different depending on your device but this might be the most common name for it, you search where this option is for your particular device.
Step 3 – Select “Factory Reset”
After you’ve managed to enter the “Backup and Reset” option, choose the factory reset option and confirm the reset.
It might take your device anywhere up to 15 to 20 minutes to finish the factory reset process. Forcefully turning off your phone or doing anything else that can interrupt the reset is not recommended at all.
Concluding this article, the fixes listed above solve the issue almost every single time if the issue originated somewhere from your side. However, if none of the fixes shown here work, then it’s possible that it’s an issue from the service provider’s side. In such cases, contacting your service provider is the only option.
It may also be possible that your network availability was intentionally restricted by your service provider for either not paying the bill or some other reason so make sure to check on that as well, it may be the solution to your issue.
